The closed beta
A real group, real routes, and a short list of things that are still moving.
Onvas is being tested by a real riding group on real routes. Here is what that means, what works, and how to hear when it opens up.
What the beta is
A closed track on Google Play. The group using it is a cycling club, so every ride is a live test with people who will tell you exactly when it does not work.
Closed means invite-only for now. It is not a waitlist for a finished product, it is a small group finding the rough edges.
What works today
The core loop is in and being used every week:
- One shared map per event, on a date and time you set.
- Live positions for everyone who joined that event.
- Group chat in the same place as the map.
- Join late and catch up, which is the whole reason this exists.
What is still moving
Plenty. Worth knowing before you form an opinion:
- Custom groups and events. Being built now. Today the app is shaped around one group.
- Other platforms. The beta is on Google Play. Nothing else is announced yet.
- What stays free. Free during the beta, and small groups stay free after it. The rest is undecided.
What we want from testers
Not polish notes. The useful reports are the ones about the moments the app let you down:
- Where the map lied to you, or a rider lagged behind where they really were.
- What it did to your battery on a long ride.
- Where the chat got in the way instead of helping.
- What you went looking for and could not find.
If it annoyed you on the bike, it is worth telling us about.
How to get in
Leave your email. When a slot opens, or when the app goes public, that is when you hear from us. No newsletter, no drip campaign.
What to expect
It is a beta. Things will change, and some of them will break first. Events may get reset, features may move, and a build may go out that is worse than the one before it.
You are not being sold anything here. You are helping find the problems while the group is small enough to fix them fast.
